The Flutist

A vivid surreal painting of a seated African street musician playing the flute for tips, rendered in deep reds, golds, and black. The mask-like figure, with layered eyes and angular forms, seems to pulse with the energy of the music against a dense web of geometric patterns.

How it all began...

This painting was purchased in person in 2007 by the American who built and maintains this website. You can Read all About it in my Travel Journal about my visit to Cameroon and my "discovery" of this amazing artist. This photo is by Chuck Cavanaugh on the day I purchased this painting. It was hard to choose but I think I made the right choice.

This original painting is not for sale but it has been digitally scanned so you can scroll down and purchase the art print.
